BA Hons

Spent an interesting couple of hours at Staffordshire University (Stoke Campus) to find out about the BA Hons. Very useful. Learnt that I do not want to do the course.

Neon Lights by Kraftwerk as I drove through Stoke - wonderful.

Blackcurrant berries

Watching TV last night and an advertisement caught my eye and so I had to capture it for my small world ideas bank:

Joel Meyerowitz

Trip to QUAD on a lovely Sunday morning to listen to a talk by Joel Meyerowtiz. I have seen him on a number of TV programmes and also after hearing him speak at the opening ceremony of FORMAT on Thursday evening I was particularly looking forward to this talk.

Here are my notes:

Ground Zero

As I was leaving I realised that Ed Swinden had been sitting directly behind me. I had read something on his blog about attending a talk and had not put two and two together, I would have said hello otherwise.

Also in the cafe after the talk I noticed Brian Griffin in the corner chatting to his friends.

Photography is a very friendly world to work in and FORMAT brings out the best in people.

Pink Floyd - The Wall

Watched the Bio Channel the other day and there was a really annoying programme about the history of Pink Floyd - I came into the story at the point where they were arguing and creating The Wall. I was only half watching but suddenly this image appeared:

I continue to collect ideas and images for my small world.

5 x 4

Discussing my ideas for small world today and a suggestion was to try a 5x4 large format camera. To use  black and white photographic paper (rather than film); create a negative on photographic paper; create a positive image from that in the darkroom; scan that image in and manipulate electronically.

The benefit of this is to make use of the weirdness of the bellows on the 5x4 camera to distort and play with the depth of field.

I now need to start creating the worlds so they can be photographed.
